Frozen Shoulder Release

Have a Question

Also called adhesive capsulitis, frozen shoulder can cause stiffness and pain of the shoulder. The shoulder is tightened or frozen due to stiffening of the bands of tissue in the shoulder capsule. A frozen shoulder release or arthroscopic capsular release is conducted with a ?keyhole ? surgery. A special probe instrument is used to release the tightened capsule of the joint.

Recovery: After release there may be significant pain. This may discourage the patient from starting early movement.

In our centre shoulder block is given and also a special catheter is left above the collar bone. Through this catheter anaesthetic medications are infused for 48 hours making the patient comfortable. At the same time it allows physiotherapist to start movements early without much pain.
