Frozen Shoulder Release
Also called adhesive capsulitis, frozen shoulder can cause severe stiffness and pain of the shoulder. In long standing diabetes and after prolonged immobilisation following fractures around shoulder, the capsular structure gets scarred and shortened. This leads to restriction of shoulder in all directions.
In long standing cases physiotherapy alone may not able to improve the range of movement. If MRI proves the presence of severe contracted capsule, the contracted capsule can be selectively divided by arthroscopy to improve the range of movement.
Nowadays manipulation of shoulder under anaesthesia not done as it gives inconsistent result and it is a painful procedure.
