An acromio clavicular dislocation or shoulder separation as it is often called occurs when the clavicle is dislocated from the acromion. This is usually a result of direct injury such as a fall or blow to the point of the shoulder. The clavicle appears prominent as even the shoulder blade is forced downwards.
Fortunately most of the times the injury is minor, which is treated conservatively.
If the dislocation is severe or in high demand individuals surgery may be needed
In Center for Joint Reconstruction, Rathi Med Speciality Hospital this is done in a novel way by arthroscopy technique.
